ith a view to facilitate the consumers, the LED (bulbs, tube lights) and energy efficient fans under Prime Minister’s Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) programme would now be provided through Post offices under Postal Services Department across the State in a phased manner. For this, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Director, Postal Services Department, Haryana Circle, Nirmal Singh and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL).
While giving this information, Director, Postal Services Department, Haryana Circle said that in its first phase, the scheme has been launched from Ambala. As per the scheme, the company(EESL) would provide LED appliances and fans at subsidized rates. This will not only help consumers save in electricity bills but will also help them with reduced consumption, he added.
He said that special booths have been set up for this purpose in post offices. Rural and urban consumers would be able to easily get these appliances from these booths.
These booths would provide LED bulb at the rate of Rs 70, LED tube light at the rate of Rs 220 and energy efficient ceiling fan at the rate of Rs 1110 each. He said that the information about these appliances and booths under post offices would also be available on www.ujala.gov.in. As the post offices have vast network, thus it would enable the consumers with easy availability and replacement of these appliances through nearest post offices. The consumer would be able to buy these appliances on producing their valid identity documents. The main aim of UJALA scheme is to provide energy efficient appliances at subsidized rates and to minimize the electricity consumption, he added.
On this occasion, Regional Head, EESL, Nitin Bhatt said that as the post offices have huge network in rural and far-off areas so the scheme would benefit the people to a greater extent. He said that on finding any defect in these appliances, the same could be replaced through these booths.
