Lohri Celebrations held at Capitol Complex

Lohri celebrations were organized today with traditional fervour by the Society for Tourism & Entertainment Promotions (STEPS), Chandigarh Administration, at the Open Hand Monument, Capitol Complex, sector-1, Chandigarh. The chief guest during the occasion was Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and the guest of honour was Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary Home, UT, Chandigarh.

Manoj Parida lighted the huge bonfire and set the tone for Lohri festivity. The rising flames of bonfire, colourful attires of the folk dancers, traditional punjabi boliyaan, energetic giddha and power packed bhangra performance marked the grand celebrations of Lohri.

During the function, various cultural events were performed and religious songs were recited by Specially abled students from PRAYAAS- Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped Children (RCHC), Sector-38, Chandigarh AASHA KIRAN- Vocational Training Centre, Sector- 46, Chandigarh & Government Rehabilitation Institute For Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Sector31, Chandigarh. Amusing magic tricks were also displayed by the famous magician S K Sharma.

Among other officers present were B L Sharma, IAS, Secretary Education, Kamal Kishor Yadav, IAS, Commissioner MC, Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director Tourism, and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration & Police.
